A coach of the Thiruvananthapuram-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express (Train No. 12431) caught fire early Sunday morning in Madhya Pradesh. The incident, reported around 5:15 AM, occurred in the B1 coach near the SLR end, between Luni Richha and Vikramgarh Alot stations in the Kota division.
Swift Response Ensures Passenger Safety
Upon noticing the fire, railway staff acted swiftly, evacuating all passengers from the affected coach. The burning coach was then detached from the rest of the train to prevent further spread. Authorities confirmed that all passengers were safely deboarded, and no injuries or casualties were reported.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Jain stated that three fire brigade units, along with ambulances and civil administration teams, were promptly deployed to the site. Immediate action ensured the safety of everyone onboard, and the fire was brought under control.
Rail Traffic Disrupted, Restoration Underway
The incident led to disruptions in rail traffic, affecting approximately five to six trains in both directions. Railway officials arranged additional coaches from Kota to allow the remaining part of the Rajdhani Express to continue its journey, with an expected departure within 30 to 45 minutes of the fire being contained.
Following the departure of the train, restoration work on the affected track was scheduled to begin. Passengers were advised to check railway websites or helpline number 139 for updates on train schedules and potential delays.
