On September 11, 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the 25th anniversary of the devastating 9/11 terror attacks in the United States, offering solemn tributes to the victims and reaffirming India’s steadfast commitment to combating terrorism worldwide.
In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi expressed solidarity with the families whose lives were profoundly altered by the horrific events. He highlighted India’s consistent position against global terror, stating, "25 years on from the horrific 9/11 attacks, we remember and honour the victims and stand in solidarity with the families whose lives were forever changed."
India's Enduring Fight Against Terrorism
Reflecting on broader global security challenges, the Prime Minister underscored India's own decades-long battle with terrorism, which he described as a victim of cross-border terrorism. "Terrorism has claimed countless lives around the world. As a victim of cross-border terrorism, India has been at the forefront of this fight for several decades," Modi asserted.
He further stressed that despite the evolving nature of threats, India's resolve and opposition to terrorism in all its forms and manifestations remain unwavering. "We stand in solidarity with all efforts to combat this scourge," he added, reinforcing India's collaborative approach to international security.
Alongside his statement, PM Modi shared photographs from his 2014 visit to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in New York, symbolizing India's remembrance and shared grief.
