Wizz Financial Launches Cross-Border Wallet for UPI Payments to International Visitors in India

· · 3 min read

Wizz Financial has introduced a new cross-border financial app, unveiled at the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai. This platform enables eligible international visitors to India to make cashless payments using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).

Wizz Financial has launched a new cross-border financial application designed to integrate India's robust digital payments infrastructure, UPI, with global financial services. The app, introduced at the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai on September 11, aims to facilitate cashless transactions for eligible international visitors across India.

Connecting Global Customers to India's UPI Ecosystem

The new Wizz Financial App combines essential financial services, including remittances, foreign exchange, multi-currency prepaid cards, lending, bill payments, and mobile recharges, all alongside UPI payments. This comprehensive platform is tailored to serve residents, non-residents, and international customers through a unified digital interface.

A core feature of this offering is its seamless integration with the UPI One World framework. This allows international visitors to utilize the Wizz Financial App for digital payments throughout India, reducing reliance on cash, subject to local regulatory requirements and transaction limits. This initiative significantly enhances accessibility to India's real-time payments network for overseas guests, aligning with the country's expanding international digital reach.

SWITCH: Powering Cross-Border Connectivity

At the heart of Wizz Financial's new platform is 'SWITCH,' its proprietary interoperability infrastructure. SWITCH is engineered to connect Wizz Financial's operations across the United States, the UAE, and India, extending its reach to include various third-party wallets and financial platforms. This infrastructure enables users to effortlessly transfer funds within the Wizz Financial ecosystem, supported by a payout network that facilitates cross-border transfers to over 80 countries.

The company positions this network as a solution to unify diverse financial services and payment ecosystems, eliminating the need for customers to manage separate platforms for remittances, payments, and foreign exchange.

Broader Strategic Vision

Beyond UPI access, the Wizz Financial App provides a suite of services including inward and outward remittances, foreign exchange, and multi-currency prepaid cards. Customers can also access lending products, bill payment options, mobile recharges, and travel and visa-related services.

Wizz Financial currently serves over 5 million customers within India through an extensive network of more than 360 branches across 22 states. The new digital platform builds upon this established physical presence, extending its services to a broader international clientele. This launch is integral to Wizz Financial's strategic objective of developing a comprehensive financial platform connecting key economic corridors, including India, the Gulf region, Southeast Asia, and the United States.

As UPI gains prominence in international payment arrangements, Wizz Financial's latest offering underscores the growing trend among cross-border fintech firms to link overseas customers with India's domestic digital payment rails. All app operations will adhere strictly to applicable regulatory frameworks, with eligibility, transaction limits, and other requirements governing access to UPI services for international users.
