Vadodara's United Way Garba is set to attempt a Guinness World Record for the most Garba dancers in one place. The special October 7 event, featuring singer Atul Purohit, offers free entry and promotes civic participation.

Vadodara is buzzing with excitement as it prepares for a monumental Garba celebration that aims to etch the city's name into the Guinness World Records. The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), in collaboration with the United Way of Baroda, is orchestrating the 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Garba' on October 7 at the iconic United Way Garba ground.

A Bid for the Guinness World Record

The centerpiece of this grand event is an ambitious attempt to establish a new Guinness World Record for the largest number of Garba participants dancing simultaneously at a single venue. Thousands of enthusiasts are anticipated to converge at the United Way ground, all contributing to this historic endeavor.

This collective celebration extends beyond dance, incorporating a series of public pledges. Participants will unite through the rhythmic movements of Garba while also committing to themes of civic participation and national development.

Free Entry and Renowned Performer

Breaking from tradition, entry to the 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Garba' will be entirely free for all citizens, a significant departure from the usual ticketed United Way Garba festivities. This special arrangement is a result of the partnership between United Way of Baroda and the VMC.

Adding to the evening's allure, acclaimed Garba singer Atul Purohit will grace the stage with his group, captivating the audience with his vibrant performances. Purohit, a former employee of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation, brings a familiar and beloved voice to the celebration.

Garba with a Powerful Message

This event transcends a mere cultural performance; it's interwoven with profound messages of civic responsibility and national progress. Organizers have linked the celebration to crucial themes such as cleanliness, women's empowerment, and the overarching vision of 'Viksit Bharat 2047' (Developed India 2047).

Attendees are expected to partake in a collective pledge supporting the vision of a developed India. Furthermore, a 'Swachh Vadodara' (Clean Vadodara) commitment will encourage citizens to actively contribute to maintaining the city's cleanliness.

Vadodara's Enduring Garba Legacy

Renowned for its vibrant Garba culture, Vadodara stands as a prominent hub for this traditional dance in Gujarat. The annual United Way Garba Mahotsav itself has previously drawn tens of thousands, underscoring the immense scale and popularity of Navratri celebrations in the city.

With the 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Garba,' Vadodara aims to elevate this rich cultural heritage to unprecedented heights. A successful record attempt would not only add a new milestone to the city's long association with Garba but also powerfully blend culture, community engagement, and a shared commitment to collective responsibility.
