Pune FDA Seizes ₹8.14 Lakh in Food Products from Siya Goyal Family Shop

· · 2 min read

Maharashtra's FDA recently raided a spice and dry fruits shop in Pune, seizing products worth ₹8.14 lakh. The action against M/s BG Goyal and Company, owned by the family of murder accused Siya Goyal, stemmed from alleged food safety violations.

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has conducted a significant raid on M/s BG Goyal and Company, a spice and dry fruits shop located in Pune's Market Yard area. During the inspection, officials seized food products valued at approximately ₹8.14 lakh over suspected violations of food safety regulations.

The regulatory body stated that the inspection, carried out on July 16, 2026, is part of its ongoing mandate to enforce food safety standards and ensure compliance with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSS Act).

Alleged Violations Uncovered

During the raid, FDA officials reportedly discovered several breaches of the FSS Act. These included suspected adulteration of products, improper labelling, and general non-compliance with established food safety norms. A total of 4,172 kilograms of various food items, primarily spices and dry fruits, were confiscated.

Samples of the seized products have been dispatched to a government laboratory for thorough analysis. Further regulatory actions, including potential prosecution, will be determined based on these laboratory test results.

Stop-Business Notice Issued

Following the inspection, the Maharashtra FDA issued a stop-business notice to M/s BG Goyal and Company. This directive mandates the establishment to halt all business operations until further orders are received from the authorities. "The shop has been instructed to stop business operations until further notice due to violations observed during the inspection," FDA officials confirmed.

Connection to High-Profile Murder Case

The shop is owned by the family of Siya Goyal, who is currently in judicial custody in connection with the alleged murder of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal. Agarwal was reportedly pushed off a cliff at Lohagad Fort.

However, the FDA has clarified that its action against M/s BG Goyal and Company is solely related to alleged violations of food safety regulations at the business establishment. The regulatory body emphasized that this enforcement action is entirely independent of the ongoing criminal investigation involving Siya Goyal, which continues to attract significant public interest and scrutiny from multiple agencies.
