Shares of Gujarat Energy (formerly Gujarat Gas) and Latent View Analytics have seen significant downturns, prompting investors to seek clarity on their future prospects. Both stocks were recently featured on the 'Daily Calls' show on BTTV, where Kranthi Bathini, Director - Equity Strategy at WealthMills Securities, offered his expert analysis.
Gujarat Energy: Awaiting Stability
Gujarat Energy shares have experienced a sharp decline, plunging 25% in the last two weeks alone. The long-term performance also shows a negative trend, with the stock falling 40% over one year, 54% over two years, and 55% over five years. The company operates an extensive pipeline network of over 44,500 kilometers, supplying Piped Natural Gas (PNG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) across six states and one Union Territory.
Bathini advises investors to avoid the gas supply stock for the time being. He noted that the stock is currently in a downtrend. His recommendation is to wait for global crude oil prices to stabilize before considering any fresh positions. Furthermore, he suggests building positions only after the company's financial results and management commentary are released.
Latent View Analytics: Attractive Valuations for Long-Term
Latent View Analytics, a pure-play data analytics and AI consulting firm, has also been a laggard in the software sector. The stock is down 40% in six months and has fallen 45% in two years. Its business model focuses on transforming complex data into actionable insights for Fortune 500 companies.
Despite its recent underperformance since listing, Bathini believes Latent View Analytics presents an interesting opportunity. For investors with a medium to long-term view, he finds the company's valuations to be very attractive. He recommends adding Latent View stock in a staggered manner, emphasizing a medium to longer-term perspective for potential gains.
