HDFC Bank has announced the appointment of V.N. Srivatsan as its new Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) for a three-year term. The appointment, approved by the bank's board on Wednesday, will see Srivatsan assume the crucial role starting January 4, 2027.
Transition in Compliance Leadership
Srivatsan will succeed Rakesh Kumar Rajput, whose three-year tenure as CCO concludes at the close of business on September 30, 2026. In the interim period, Venkateswaran L, who currently serves as Compliance Head for Credit, Asset Product & Regulatory Reporting, will manage the responsibilities of the Chief Compliance Officer until Srivatsan officially joins the bank.
About V.N. Srivatsan
V.N. Srivatsan brings a wealth of experience to HDFC Bank, with approximately 34 years in professional roles, including around 25 years specifically within the banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) sector. Prior to this appointment, he held the position of Head – Compliance: Overseas Banking and Subsidiaries & Data Privacy Officer at ICICI Bank.
His extensive background includes nearly a decade of direct experience in compliance and regulatory inspections, having previously led Retail Banking Compliance and Regulatory Inspection for over eight years. Srivatsan's expertise encompasses overseeing regulatory adherence, designing and implementing robust compliance frameworks, and collaborating closely with senior management, audit committees, the board, and regulatory bodies.
Academically, Srivatsan holds a postgraduate degree in Business Administration from PSG College of Technology and a Bachelor of Technology degree from Sri Venkateshwara University.
Regulatory Compliance and Future Role
HDFC Bank confirmed that Srivatsan’s appointment aligns with the Reserve Bank of India’s (Commercial Banks- Compliance Function) Directions, 2026. He will join the bank as a full-time employee. Rakesh Kumar Rajput will also continue his employment with HDFC Bank in another capacity.
