The latest strikes occurred barely an hour after White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt delivered a seemingly contradictory message. Leavitt told reporters that despite the escalating military campaign, Iran "very much continues to talk to the United States of America and express that they want to make a deal with us." Leavitt defended the ongoing strikes as a direct response to Iran's actions in the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that the US would not "sit by and allow these active acts of terrorism to take place in the strait."
