Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended heartfelt Diwali greetings to citizens nationwide, emphasizing the festival's significance as a symbol of India's determination to overcome challenges. He also reaffirmed his long-standing commitment to celebrating the auspicious occasion directly with the nation's brave soldiers.

In a video message shared on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi conveyed his wishes for happiness, peace, and prosperity to all. He stated, "May this festival and the time ahead bring happiness, peace and prosperity into your lives."

Continuing a Valued Tradition

Reiterating a practice he has upheld for years, the Prime Minister announced his intention to continue his annual tradition of spending Diwali with members of the armed forces. "As you know, it is my annual tradition to spend the festival with the brave soldiers of our country, and I will continue that tradition this year as well," he affirmed.

Earlier on Saturday, PM Modi met with Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan to exchange festive greetings, an update he also shared on social media. His festive messages began even before Diwali's main day, with greetings extended on Dhanteras, which marks the start of the five-day celebrations.

A Festival of Light and Well-being

On Dhanteras, PM Modi wished citizens "boundless happiness," invoking Lord Dhanvantari to fill lives with "happiness, peace, and excellent health." He expressed a heartfelt wish for "the flame of joy and happiness burn brightly in every home."

The five-day Diwali festivities commenced with Dhanteras on November 6, followed by Choti Diwali on November 7. The main celebrations, including Lakshmi Puja, are scheduled for November 8. Govardhan Puja will be observed on November 9, with Bhai Dooj on November 10 marking the conclusion of the auspicious period.
