Noor Ahmad's 3-Wicket Haul Secures 32-Run Victory for CSK Over KKR in IPL

· · 2 min read

Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 32 runs on Tuesday, thanks to Noor Ahmad's impressive 3/21 bowling figures. CSK posted 192/5, then restricted KKR to 160/7, marking KKR's fifth consecutive loss this IPL season.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) registered their second consecutive victory, beating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 32 runs in a recent Indian Premier League (IPL) match held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The win was largely propelled by a stellar bowling performance from young spinner Noor Ahmad, who claimed three crucial wickets.

CSK Sets Challenging Target

After being asked to bat first, Chennai Super Kings posted a competitive total of 192/5. Contributions from Sanju Samson (48 runs) and Dewald Brevis (41 runs) were instrumental in building a strong innings for CSK.

Noor Ahmad Dominates KKR Chase

In response, Kolkata Knight Riders struggled to build momentum against a disciplined CSK bowling attack. Left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad proved to be the difference-maker, finishing with impressive figures of 3/21. He dismissed key KKR batsmen, including captain Ajinkya Rahane for 28 and Cameron Green for a golden duck on consecutive deliveries, though Rinku Singh managed to avoid a hat-trick.

Despite efforts from Rovman Powell (31 not out) and Ramandeep Singh (35) to rebuild the innings, the required run rate continued to climb. KKR ultimately fell short, managing only 160/7 in their allotted overs, leaving them without a win after five matches this season.

Rahane Reflects on KKR's Performance

"We just have to keep that head up and just be positive and have that self-belief," stated KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane after the match. He acknowledged CSK's strong batting, particularly their power play score of over 70 runs, but praised his own bowling unit for pulling it back to 190. Rahane also noted the challenge of hitting spinners in the middle overs and emphasized the need for one batter to anchor the innings deep.

The loss leaves Kolkata Knight Riders at the bottom of the points table, with their only point coming from a washed-out fixture. Conversely, Chennai Super Kings, after starting their season with three losses, have now secured two wins in a row, moving up to eighth place. The team continues to await the return of star player MS Dhoni, who is recovering from a calf injury.

Upcoming IPL Fixture

Attention now shifts to Wednesday's match, where defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru will host Lucknow Super Giants in Bengaluru.
