Udaipur police are investigating a Delhi tourist accused of leaving The Oberoi Udaivilas without settling a ₹5.74 lakh bill. The luxury hotel filed a complaint after the travel agency denied the guest's claim of payment responsibility.

Udaipur, Rajasthan – Police in Udaipur have launched an investigation into a Delhi resident accused of allegedly departing The Oberoi Udaivilas, a prominent five-star hotel, without paying a substantial bill totaling ₹5.74 lakh.

The complaint, filed by Ravindra Singh, the liaisoning manager at The Oberoi Udaivilas, states that the guest, identified as Anurag Yadav, stayed at the hotel with his wife and two children from August 14 to August 23. During their 10-day stay, the family reportedly utilized various hotel services, including dining options.

Dispute Over Payment Responsibility

Upon checking out on August 24, Yadav was presented with the final bill of ₹5.74 lakh. According to the hotel's complaint, he allegedly refused to settle the amount, claiming that a travel agency would handle the payment on his behalf. However, when hotel management contacted the said travel agency, it denied any such arrangement with Yadav.

The booking for Yadav and his family was reportedly made via email through a travel agency on August 12, just two days before their arrival.

Police Register Case, Investigate Alleged Fraud

Udaipur police have registered a case based on the hotel's complaint and initiated an investigation. Authorities stated that Yadav, who is employed by a private company in Delhi, is suspected of being involved in a prima facie case of fraud, potentially in collusion with the travel agency.

The investigation will focus on clarifying the details surrounding the booking, the family's stay, the reasons behind the unpaid bill, and the conflicting claims regarding payment responsibility between Yadav and the travel agency.
