Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd. (SAMIL) has achieved a stellar first quarter, reporting its highest-ever revenue and a significant surge in net profit. Following these strong Q1 earnings, the company's shares reached a record high on Friday, closing 9.25% higher at Rs 168.25.
Record Revenue and Doubled Net Profit
For the first quarter, SAMIL posted a record revenue of Rs 35,244 crore, marking a 17% year-on-year (YoY) increase. This impressive growth was attributed to robust performance across all its business segments. Net profit more than doubled YoY, reaching Rs 1,032 crore, largely supported by the strong revenue figures.
The company's operating performance also remained healthy, with earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) climbing to Rs 3,096 crore. However, the EBITDA margin saw a slight contraction to 8.8%, narrowing by approximately 230 basis points sequentially compared to the previous quarter.
Ambitious $108 Billion Topline Target by 2030
Looking ahead, SAMIL's management has set an ambitious target to achieve a topline of $108 billion by 2030. Gandharv Tongia, the group CFO of SAMIL, confirmed this goal in an exclusive interaction, stating, "We are making all the possible steps both organically and inorganically... to achieve topline of $108 billion by 2030."
Pankaj Mittal, the whole time director and president at SAMIL, highlighted the company's strategic approach to growth. Demand in India remains strong, and while China and Europe saw slight dips, new model launches are expected to fuel business growth in those regions. SAMIL benefits from a diversified portfolio, encompassing multiple products across automotive and non-automotive sectors, including consumer electronics and aerospace.
Strategic Expansion and Acquisitions
To support its growth trajectory, SAMIL operationalised three new plants during Q1, with 13 additional facilities slated to come online during FY27. The company has guided for a capital expenditure (capex) of Rs 6,000 crore for FY27.
Inorganic growth is also a key pillar of SAMIL's strategy. The company recently confirmed and consummated deals with two entities, Yutaka Juken and Nexans Auto Electric, in July. These acquisitions are projected to contribute an additional $2 billion annually to the group's topline, further bolstering its path towards the 2030 target.
