Maruti Suzuki Fronx Exports Soar Past 2 Lakh; Dominates India's PV Export Share

Maruti Suzuki's compact SUV, the Fronx, has achieved a significant milestone, surpassing 200,000 exports in under 38 months. This makes it the first Indian SUV to reach this feat, as Maruti Suzuki also captures 55% of India's passenger vehicle export market in Q1 FY27.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. announced a significant achievement for its compact SUV, the Fronx, which has now crossed 200,000 units in exports. This milestone was reached in under 38 months since the commencement of its international shipments, positioning the Fronx as the first SUV from India to achieve such a feat.

The export journey of the Fronx has shown remarkable acceleration. The first 100,000 units were exported in approximately 25 months, while the subsequent 100,000 units were dispatched in a much quicker 13 months, highlighting growing global demand for the Made-in-India vehicle. Manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s Hansalpur facility in Gujarat, the Fronx is currently exported to nearly 90 countries, including Japan.

Maruti Suzuki's Dominance in Exports

Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO of Maruti Suzuki, emphasized the company's commitment to the 'Make in India, Make for the World' initiative. He stated, “Fronx has been a key contributor to Maruti Suzuki’s success in exports. Since FY24-25, it has been India's No. 1 exported passenger vehicle and is now shipped to nearly 90 countries.”

According to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Maruti Suzuki accounted for a dominant 55% of India’s passenger vehicle exports during the first quarter of FY27. Furthermore, all three of India’s top exported passenger vehicles in Q1 FY26-27 were Maruti Suzuki models, underscoring the company's strong appeal and reliability in international markets.

“Sustained focus on exports has earned the company the number one position in passenger vehicle exports from India,” added Hisashi Takeuchi.

The company's vehicles collectively reach approximately 120 countries worldwide, showcasing the prowess of India’s manufacturing ecosystem on a global scale.
