ACKO Unveils DriveCam, Clinic, AirPass to Transform Insurance from Reactive to Proactive

· · 3 min read

Digital insurer ACKO has launched DriveCam, ACKO Clinic, and AirPass, expanding its services beyond traditional claims. These new offerings aim to provide proactive protection and support for motor, health, and travel needs before incidents arise.

Digital insurance provider ACKO has announced three innovative new offerings – DriveCam, ACKO Clinic, and AirPass – signaling a strategic shift to expand its role beyond conventional claims processing. The company aims to provide comprehensive protection and support to customers proactively, before incidents occur, rather than solely reacting to them.

This move comes amidst growing concerns over customer experience within the insurance sector. According to KPMG India’s 2025 CX Report, nearly half of India’s general insurance customers are likely to switch providers, highlighting a demand for more engaging and value-driven services.

“Insurance has always defined itself by the worst day in someone's life, the accident, the surgery, the cancelled flight,” stated Varun Dua, Founder, ACKO. “We think that's a strange place to start a relationship. An insurer that only shows up when something goes wrong is irrelevant the rest of the time, and most of the time, nothing goes wrong. Our job is to show up for our customers and provide protection before something goes wrong, not just the moment something breaks.”

ACKO DriveCam: Enhanced Road Safety

ACKO DriveCam is a branded dashcam bundled with select car insurance policies. This device automatically records footage from the moment a vehicle starts, offering customers a personal record in the event of disputed accidents, road-rage incidents, or traffic violations. The footage is stored on the device and the customer's phone, with sharing options controlled entirely by the user.

The DriveCam rollout will initially target private cars up to 10 years old across eight major Indian cities, implemented in phases for both new policies and renewals.

ACKO Clinic: Proactive Healthcare

The ACKO Clinic introduces a members-only healthcare service, with its first facility set to open in Bengaluru. This initiative integrates doctors, health check-ups, diagnostics, and a dedicated care team to help members identify potential health risks early and receive continuous support for their well-being.

ACKO AirPass: Seamless Travel Protection

For frequent domestic flyers, ACKO AirPass offers an annual subscription designed to mitigate common travel frustrations. Subscribers receive a ₹1,500 cash payout if an eligible flight is delayed by more than 90 minutes. Additionally, the pass provides up to ₹3,000 in rebooking discounts for flights that are canceled or missed.

Direct-to-Consumer Advantage

Dua emphasized that ACKO's direct-to-consumer model allows the company to reinvest savings from not paying commissions directly into customer-facing services. This approach enables ACKO to own critical customer touchpoints, rather than outsourcing them.

The company also reported significant growth in its repair and roadside assistance network, which now services approximately 2,500 cars per month, double its capacity from a year ago.
