Global Energy Supply Concerns Intensify
The stability in domestic fuel rates comes despite rising crude oil prices and fresh anxieties surrounding energy shipments via the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global oil and gas. Shipping data from Kpler revealed a notable drop in vessel traffic through the Bab el-Mandeb strait on Sunday, with transit through the Strait of Hormuz also remaining low over the weekend.
These disruptions follow recent attacks by Yemeni Houthis on Saudi oil installations along the Red Sea coast. A Reuters report indicated that only 11 commodity vessels traversed the Bab el-Mandeb strait on Sunday, marking the lowest level in months. Similarly, fewer than 10 commodity vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz daily over the weekend, underscoring the impact of the widening US-Iran conflict on oil supply routes.

US-Iran Conflict Sees Temporary De-escalation

After 13 nights of intensifying US airstrikes on Iran, the Pentagon suspended its campaign late on Friday, with no US attacks reported over the weekend.
