Indian-origin designer Rahul Agarwal landed a $350,000 investment on Shark Tank US for his innovative foldable measuring spoons, Polygons. Lori Greiner and Mindy Kaling jointly backed the product, securing a 10% stake in the company.

Kolkata-born entrepreneur Rahul Agarwal successfully pitched his origami-inspired measuring spoons, Polygons, on Shark Tank US, securing a $350,000 investment from celebrity investors Lori Greiner and Mindy Kaling. The deal, valued at approximately ₹3.3 crore, marks a significant milestone for the innovative kitchenware brand.

The Deal Details on Shark Tank US

Agarwal, who recently relocated to New Jersey, entered the tank seeking $350,000 for a 7% stake, which valued Polygons at $5 million. After intense negotiations during Season 18, Episode 4, Greiner and Kaling agreed to invest the same amount for an 8% equity stake, plus an additional 2% in advisory shares. This combined 10% ownership by the Sharks values Polygons at $3.5 million (roughly ₹29 crore) post-deal.

Why the Sharks Invested

Both investors were highly impressed by Polygons' practical design and Agarwal's clear business approach. Mindy Kaling lauded the invention as “one of the best-designed products” she had seen on the show, highlighting its innovative nature. Agarwal's compelling presentation and adept negotiation skills were also key factors in securing the joint offer.

Introducing Polygons: The Innovative Kitchen Tool

Polygons offers a clever, space-saving solution to a common kitchen problem. It replaces a bulky, conventional six-piece measuring spoon set with just two foldable tools. Inspired by the art of origami, these utensils flatten for effortless storage and can be folded into various precise sizes to accurately measure ingredients. Polygons Design, founded by Agarwal in October 2016 in Delaware, aims to simplify kitchen organization and cooking preparation.

Company Performance and Future Outlook

The company has demonstrated strong market performance, reporting lifetime sales of $4 million (₹37.92 crore), with $1.25 million (₹11.85 crore) generated in the previous year alone. Agarwal revealed a strategic focus on brand expansion, having reinvested profits and opted for a modest monthly salary to fuel growth. This substantial Shark Tank investment is expected to significantly boost Polygons' manufacturing capabilities, expand its distribution network, and amplify its marketing efforts, particularly within the competitive US market.
