Hyundai Motor India has rolled out a significant security upgrade for its popular Venue and Venue N Line compact SUVs, introducing a remote immobiliser feature via the Hyundai Bluelink app. This innovation aims to provide owners with enhanced protection against vehicle theft, particularly in scenarios involving sophisticated methods like key cloning.
Advanced Theft Prevention
The new remote immobiliser acts as a powerful deterrent against car theft. Once activated through the Bluelink app, the feature prevents the vehicle from being restarted without proper authorization. This functionality is crucial for safeguarding parked vehicles and offers a reactive solution in cases of suspected theft, allowing owners to activate the immobiliser even after the vehicle has been stolen, provided it has been switched off.
Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO of Hyundai Motor India, emphasized the company's commitment to connected mobility. “With Hyundai Bluelink now powering over eight lakh connected vehicles in India, we continue to strengthen our connected mobility ecosystem by delivering meaningful innovations that address evolving customer needs,” Garg stated. He added that the feature offers customers greater control and peace of mind by enabling them to remotely secure their vehicles and respond quickly to theft concerns, all while maintaining strict safety protocols.
How the System Works
The Bluelink Remote Immobiliser is available on connected-car Navigation Cockpit-equipped variants, specifically the HX10 variant of the Venue and the N10 variant of the Venue N Line. Owners of eligible vehicles sold since November 2025 will receive this feature through a Controller Over-the-Air (C-OTA) update, eliminating the need for a workshop visit.
The system offers both proactive and reactive security measures. Users can activate the immobiliser through the Bluelink app while the vehicle is parked. If the feature was not activated prior to parking, it can still be engaged remotely after a suspected theft. Once the vehicle is switched off, the immobiliser takes effect, preventing any subsequent restart. Hyundai confirms that this function can be activated directly via the app without requiring contact with the Bluelink centre.
In addition to the immobiliser, the system includes live vehicle location tracking, which assists both owners and law enforcement in locating a stolen vehicle, contingent on network connectivity. For safety reasons, the system is designed not to stop or switch off a vehicle while it is in motion.
Availability and Future Rollout
The Venue and Venue N Line are the inaugural models in Hyundai’s mass-market portfolio to receive this cutting-edge remote immobiliser technology. Hyundai plans a phased rollout of the feature across select existing Bluelink-equipped models and intends to offer it as a standard inclusion on all upcoming connected vehicles, further solidifying its commitment to advanced vehicle security and connected car technology.
