Fuel consumers in major Indian cities are facing new adjustments, with Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) prices seeing an upward revision in key metropolitan areas. As of May 30, 2026, Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has hiked CNG rates by ₹2 per kg across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), bringing the price to ₹86 per kg in Mumbai, Thane, and Navi Mumbai. This marks the second such increase in MMR within less than a month.
Similarly, Delhi residents are also experiencing a ₹2 per kg increase in CNG prices, pushing the retail cost to ₹83.09 per kg in the capital. These hikes follow a period where the central government reportedly delayed fuel price revisions until after recent Assembly elections in states like Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal.
LPG and PNG Prices Hold Steady
In contrast to CNG, rates for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) have seen no changes as of May 30. LPG continues to be a primary cooking fuel for many households, with its prices being closely monitored amidst prevailing geopolitical tensions in West Asia, a critical source for India's crude and LPG imports.
The government, however, continues to offer support through schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), which provides subsidies to eligible low-income families, helping to mitigate the impact of global energy fluctuations on household budgets.
