A prominent market expert has advised investors to immediately exit their positions in Ola Electric stock and redirect their capital towards ICICI Lombard, citing significant near-term weakness for the electric vehicle manufacturer.
Sumeet Bagadia, a market analyst, made the recommendation in response to a retail investor who purchased Ola Electric shares at Rs 37. The stock has since slipped 7-8%, with its proposed Rs 1,000-crore rights issue drawing fresh scrutiny and adding to investor concerns.
Ola Electric Faces Downside Risk
Bagadia's outlook for Ola Electric is stark, predicting a further decline to the Rs 25-27 range within one to two months. He explicitly urged investors to take the small loss now rather than waiting for a potential recovery. This advice shifts away from the common retail strategy of averaging down, instead emphasizing capital preservation in a volatile market.
The rights issue, while intended to bolster the company's balance sheet, has intensified focus on Ola Electric's performance at a time when market sentiment around the stock is already under pressure. The broader market environment, characterized by macro headwinds and stretched valuations in certain sectors, further complicates the picture for high-risk assets like Ola Electric.
ICICI Lombard Offers Clearer Upside
In contrast to the bearish outlook for Ola Electric, Bagadia suggested a direct portfolio switch into ICICI Lombard. Quoted at Rs 1,624 at the time of the recommendation, ICICI Lombard is seen as a more stable financial stock with clearer growth potential.
The analyst projected a 10-15% upside for ICICI Lombard shares within a three-month timeframe. This recommendation reflects a defensive rotation strategy, moving capital from a volatile, high-risk asset to a relatively steadier performer with visible growth prospects. Bagadia stressed that disciplined reallocation is crucial, underscoring the importance of cutting losses and moving to more promising opportunities.
“Please take exit right now right away because currently it is quite weak,” Bagadia advised concerning Ola Electric. Regarding ICICI Lombard, he added, “10 to 15% upside is possible within three months span.”
