Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) reported a net addition of 4,258 employees in Q2 FY27, bringing its total workforce to 598,056. This marks the third consecutive quarter of net headcount growth for the Indian IT services giant, signaling continued recovery.

Mumbai, India – October 8, 2026 – Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India's largest IT services firm, announced a net increase of 4,258 employees during the second quarter of fiscal year 2026-27 (Q2 FY27), which ended in September 2026. This latest expansion brings the company's total global headcount to 598,056.

This marks the third consecutive quarter of net headcount additions for TCS, underscoring a steady recovery in workforce growth following a period of global restructuring in the previous fiscal year, FY26. The IT major had previously added approximately 9,279 employees in Q1 FY27, bringing the total net additions for the first half of the fiscal year to 13,537.

Attrition Rates Improve

Alongside the positive trend in TCS employee growth, the company also reported an improvement in its attrition figures. The 12-month trailing attrition rate saw a slight decline, falling to 13.3% in Q2 FY27 from 13.6% in the preceding quarter. This stability in attrition, coupled with new hiring, indicates a robust talent management strategy.

Sudeep Kunnumal, Chief HR Officer at TCS, commented on the company's commitment to workforce development. "We continue to build a future-ready workforce through upskilling our employees and hiring top talent," he stated. "Investments in learning and critical skills drove a 17% sequential increase in learning hours to 17.1 million."

Focus on Fresher Talent

TCS remains focused on nurturing its entry-level talent pipeline. At the beginning of FY27, the company extended approximately 25,000 offers to fresh graduates. By the close of Q1, around 14,000 of these freshers had already joined the organization, reinforcing the company's long-term talent strategy.

Strong Financial Performance in Q2 FY27

In addition to its workforce expansion, TCS also reported strong financial results for Q2 FY27. The company's consolidated net profit rose by 14.86% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 13,934 crore, up from Rs 12,131 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

Revenue from operations also saw significant growth, increasing by 11.22% YoY to Rs 73,188 crore, compared to Rs 65,799 crore in the year-ago period. Furthermore, TCS highlighted its growing presence in artificial intelligence (AI), with annualized AI revenue reaching $3.1 billion, now accounting for over 10% of the company's total revenue.

Interim Dividend Declared

The board of directors also declared a second interim dividend of Rs 12 per equity share for FY27. The record date for determining eligible shareholders for this dividend is October 14, 2026, with the payment scheduled for October 30, 2026.
