Abhijeet Dipke, a prominent figure and founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), has embarked on a significant social initiative in his native village in Maharashtra's Hingoli district. Dipke, who previously resided in the United States, credits the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer film Swades for inspiring his decision to return to India and dedicate his efforts to local community development.
Inspired by Mohan's Journey in Swades
Dipke revealed that the character of Mohan, portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan in the 2004 film, left a profound and lasting impact on him. Mohan's journey of returning to his Indian village, Charanpur, to work for its betterment resonated deeply with Dipke. He reportedly watched the film over 100 times, each viewing reinforcing his desire to contribute to his own community.
“Grew up watching Swades and fell so deeply in love with the film that I must have watched it over 100 times by now. There’s one part that has always stayed with me. Mohan goes to meet Haridas and sees how he is struggling even to feed his family. On his way back, sitting on the train, he sees a little boy selling water at the station instead of being in school. As Mohan quietly sheds a tear, I did too. Every single time,” Dipke shared on X, expressing the emotional connection he felt with the film's narrative.
This powerful cinematic inspiration eventually led Dipke to leave his life in the US and seek opportunities to make a tangible difference in India, echoing Mohan's commitment to Charanpur.
The "School Thik Karo" Campaign
On India's Independence Day, Dipke officially launched his "School Thik Karo" (Fix the Schools) campaign from his ancestral village. The initiative focuses on addressing critical deficiencies in government schools across the region. As part of the campaign, Dipke has been visiting various schools, meticulously documenting and highlighting the lack of basic amenities.
Addressing Core Issues in Education
His observations have brought to light several pressing problems, including inadequate seating arrangements for students, unreliable water supply, non-functional windows, and unsanitary toilet facilities. Through the "School Thik Karo" campaign, Abhijeet Dipke aims to draw attention to these issues and mobilize efforts towards providing a more conducive learning environment for rural children. His work exemplifies how cultural narratives can translate into real-world social action and community upliftment.
