Twisha Sharma Death: Family Alleges Judge Mother-in-Law Influenced Probe, Govt Acts

· · 2 min read

The family of Twisha Sharma, who died under suspicious circumstances, has accused her retired judge mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, of contacting judiciary members and CCTV installers post-mortem. This has sparked allegations of attempts to influence the investigation into her death.

The tragic death of Twisha Sharma has escalated into a major controversy, with her family leveling serious accusations against her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, a retired additional district judge. The family claims Singh attempted to influence the ongoing investigation into Sharma's death, which they allege was not a suicide but potentially a physical assault or murder.

Allegations of Influence and Tampering

According to the Sharma family, Giribala Singh made numerous phone calls to individuals connected with the judiciary and those who installed CCTV cameras at the marital home shortly after Twisha's passing. These calls have raised suspicions that Singh, who also served as President of the District Consumer Forum post-retirement, sought to manipulate the investigative process.

The family has publicly released a list of phone numbers and is demanding a thorough forensic examination of all call records belonging to Giribala Singh. They are also pushing for the preservation and analysis of tower locations, IP logs, and other critical digital evidence, including email communications, SMS records, and WhatsApp chats related to the case.

Family Rejects Suicide Claims, Cites Injuries

Contradicting the Singh family's assertion of suicide, Twisha Sharma's family maintains she made distressed calls to them on the night of her death. They further claim that Twisha's body bore visible bruises and injury marks, suggesting the possibility of physical assault. A case of dowry death and harassment has been registered against Twisha's husband, advocate Samarth Singh, and Giribala Singh.

Samarth Singh is currently absconding, while Giribala Singh has been granted bail. A local court, however, rejected the Sharma family's plea for a second autopsy, a request made out of concern that individuals linked to her in-laws might have influenced the initial post-mortem examination conducted in Bhopal.

Government Takes Action, CBI Probe Recommended

In response to the gravity of the allegations, the Madhya Pradesh government has initiated proceedings to remove Giribala Singh from her position as President of the District Consumer Forum. The Food Supply Department has formally requested an inquiry and an urgent report from the Registrar of the State Consumer Commission, citing rules that permit removal from office in serious cases.

Further demonstrating the state's commitment to a fair investigation, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced that his government will recommend a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into Twisha Sharma's death, signaling a potential escalation of the probe.
