· · 2 min read

India has strongly condemned a missile attack on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport on October 10, which killed 12 people and injured over 300. New Delhi called the repeated assaults on civilian infrastructure 'completely unacceptable' and expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia.

New Delhi has issued a strong condemnation following a deadly missile strike on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport on October 10, an attack that claimed 12 lives and left over 300 injured. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described the repeated assaults on civilian infrastructure as "completely unacceptable" and demanded an immediate cessation of hostilities.

The attack, considered the deadliest in Saudi Arabia in over a decade, specifically targeted domestic terminals 3 and 4 of the airport complex. Emergency services were overwhelmed as they rushed scores of casualties to hospitals amidst widespread chaos. Victims included nationals from Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, the US, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan, and Egypt. This incident followed two prior strikes earlier in the week that had already caused significant damage and casualties at the aviation hub.

India Expresses Solidarity with Saudi Arabia

In its official statement, the MEA declared, "We strongly condemn the repeated attacks on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport over the past few days, including the dastardly attack on October 10, which have led to loss of lives, injuries and damage to property."

India reiterated its solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, expressing unwavering support for its government and people in safeguarding their sovereignty. New Delhi also voiced hope for a swift return to peace and normalcy in the region. The MEA emphasized that "The repeated attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure are completely unacceptable and must cease immediately."

International Reactions to the Escalation

The missile strike has drawn international attention. US President Donald Trump indicated that Washington is evaluating whether to join Riyadh's military campaign against the Iran-backed Houthis, who are widely believed to be responsible for the escalating violence. The international community continues to monitor the situation closely, urging de-escalation and protection of civilian lives.
