Summit Postponement Details
The highly anticipated Fourth India–Africa Forum Summit (IAFS IV), originally slated to take place in New Delhi from May 28 to 31, has been officially postponed. The decision, announced on May 21, 2026, by India and the African Union, stems from an “evolving health situation in parts of Africa,” specifically referencing the ongoing Ebola outbreak.
While no new dates have been set, both sides have agreed that convening the summit at a later time would be advisable. New schedules for the summit and its related meetings will be determined through mutual consultation and communicated once finalized. India has expressed its unwavering solidarity with the people and governments of Africa, signaling its readiness to contribute to the Africa CDC-led initiatives aimed at managing the health crisis, aligning with a shared commitment to an Africa-led response.
India's Travel Advisory Amid Ebola Scare
In response to the Ebola outbreak, India’s Directorate General of Health Services has issued a comprehensive advisory for passengers arriving from or transiting through affected countries. Displayed prominently at Delhi airport by the Airport Health Organisation, the advisory urges travelers to immediately report to airport health authorities before immigration clearance if they exhibit symptoms or have a history of exposure to the virus.
Passengers are advised to monitor for symptoms such as fever, weakness, headache, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, sore throat, and unexplained bleeding. Furthermore, individuals who have had direct contact with the blood or body fluids of a suspected or confirmed Ebola patient are instructed to report to the airport health officer or health desk without delay. The advisory specifies that travelers developing symptoms within 21 days of arrival should seek immediate medical care and inform authorities about their recent travel history. This alert particularly targets those arriving from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan, which the World Health Organisation has identified as high-risk nations.
