Bangladesh's 'Donald Trump' Buffalo: 700kg Albino Goes Viral

· · 3 min read

A rare 700-kilogram albino buffalo in Bangladesh has become an internet sensation, nicknamed 'Donald Trump' due to its golden-blonde hair and pale features. Crowds are flocking to a Narayanganj farm to see the viral animal before Eid al-Adha.

The Unlikely Internet Sensation

A massive 700-kilogram albino buffalo in Bangladesh has captured global attention, earning the moniker 'Donald Trump' from locals. Housed at a farm in Narayanganj, near the capital Dhaka, the animal's distinctive golden-blonde hair and light-colored facial features bear a striking resemblance to the former US president's signature hairstyle, turning it into an unexpected social media star.

The buffalo's fame has exploded across platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and X, drawing large crowds of curious visitors eager to snap selfies and videos. This surge in popularity comes just ahead of Eid al-Adha, a significant Islamic festival where animal sacrifice is a key observance.

Why the 'Donald Trump' Buffalo Went Viral

The most talked-about attribute of this unique animal is a thick tuft of blonde hair, brushed backward beneath its curved horns, a look instantly compared to Trump's characteristic coiffure. Its pale, pinkish-white skin and light eyes further distinguish it from the typical black buffaloes commonly found across South Asia, adding to its mystique.

Officials from Bangladesh’s Department of Livestock Services confirm that albino buffaloes are exceptionally rare. Their unique coloration is due to low melanin production, which affects pigmentation in skin, hair, and eyes, making this particular animal a true anomaly.

From Farm Joke to Global Phenomenon

The nickname 'Donald Trump' reportedly originated as a playful joke by the farm owner’s younger brother. However, the comparison quickly resonated online after local vloggers and social media influencers shared videos of the buffalo. Its calm and gentle demeanor, despite its immense size, has further endeared it to visitors.

The nonstop attention has, however, begun to take a toll on the celebrity buffalo. Caretakers, who wash and groom the animal multiple times a day, reported that the buffalo recently lost weight due to the stress from constant crowds. This prompted the farm to implement restrictions on public access to protect the animal's well-being.

Despite these measures, visitors continue to arrive from neighboring districts, with some even traveling by boat, determined to catch a glimpse of the viral 'Donald Trump' buffalo before the Eid festivities commence.

Eid al-Adha and an Emotional Dilemma

The buffalo’s rise to fame is intertwined with the upcoming Eid al-Adha, a festival where millions of animals are sacrificed annually in Bangladesh. While the owner has admitted to growing emotionally attached to the animal, he emphasizes that the sacrifice remains central to the religious observance.

This unique story highlights the power of social media to create unlikely celebrities and underscores the cultural significance of animals in various traditions.
