Abhijeet Dipke Calls for Maharashtra Education Minister Bhuse's Resignation Amidst Poor School Conditions

· · 4 min read

Cockroach Janata Party convenor Abhijeet Dipke has demanded the resignation of Maharashtra School Education Minister Dada Bhuse. Dipke cited deplorable conditions in government schools, including inadequate facilities and unsafe environments, during his 'School Thik Karo' campaign.

Abhijeet Dipke, convenor of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), has strongly criticized the Maharashtra state government and demanded the resignation of School Education Minister Dada Bhuse. Dipke's call comes amidst widespread concerns over the substandard conditions in government-run schools across the state, which he claims are failing to provide basic facilities for students.

The issue gained prominence during Dipke's visit to a Zilla Parishad school in Ujani village, located in Latur's Ausa tehsil. This visit was part of the CJP's recently launched 'School Thik Karo' (Fix the Schools) campaign, aimed at highlighting and addressing the deficiencies in public education infrastructure.

Dire Conditions Uncovered in Government Schools

During his inspection, Dipke reported that numerous government schools continue to suffer from inadequate classrooms, a severe lack of proper benches, non-functional or unhygienic toilets, and unsafe access roads. These conditions force students to study in environments that are not only unhygienic but also potentially dangerous.

Speaking to reporters, Dipke expressed his dismay, stating that students in some schools were being treated "worse than animals." He questioned the accountability of political leaders, asking why citizens should vote for representatives who fail to prioritize the future of children. He urged people to critically evaluate the conditions in which their children are educated, drawing a stark comparison: "The dogs of these ministers get better facilities than this."

Call for Accountability and Focus on Education

Dipke emphasized the need for citizens to hold their elected representatives and ministers accountable, regardless of their political affiliation. He encouraged people to demand action on education from leaders visiting their villages, asserting that votes should be contingent on efforts to improve school infrastructure and learning environments.

Critiquing political campaigns that often center on religious issues, Dipke argued that the focus should instead be squarely on the future of children. "The religion will not go anywhere, but the future of kids can get affected," he stated, highlighting the long-term consequences of neglecting education.

Ministerial Responsibility Questioned

When pressed on whether Dada Bhuse should remain as School Education Minister, Dipke unequivocally stated that the current state of schools made him believe the minister should not continue in the post. He further suggested that ministers and elected representatives should consider sending their own children to government schools to truly understand the challenges faced by students.

Dipke alleged that the ruling administration has failed to implement substantial improvements in government schools over several years, despite being in power. He pointed out persistent issues like leaking tin roofs and a lack of adequate benches, questioning what the government has achieved if such fundamental problems remain unresolved after a decade.

Safety Concerns and Ongoing Advocacy

Beyond infrastructure, Dipke also raised serious safety concerns, referencing reports of children allegedly dying from snakebites in schools. He attributed such incidents to unhygienic conditions, including accumulated scrap and garbage on school premises, which create environments conducive to pests and snakes.

The CJP, in collaboration with local residents, is committed to continuing its advocacy for better school infrastructure, safer access routes, and improved transport facilities for students who often have to travel long distances to attend classes. Dipke noted that the CJP's inspections have already prompted some authorities to initiate remedial work at several schools.

Public Participation and Future Electoral Impact

Dipke called for greater public participation to strengthen democratic accountability, encouraging more organizations and movements to voice the concerns of ordinary citizens. He believes that increased public engagement will bolster democracy.

Looking ahead, Dipke predicted that Generation Z would emerge as a significant electoral force by the 2029 elections, compelling political parties to address their concerns more seriously. He warned that if the issues facing children in government schools continue to be ignored, young voters would hold governments accountable, potentially leading to widespread protests across villages.

The 'School Thik Karo' campaign aims to push for comprehensive improvements, including better infrastructure, safer school environments, and greater accountability from all elected representatives.
