Temple Founder Deepinder Goyal Unveils "Roomdeaf" AI Wearable, Calls it "Humanity's Last Personal Device"

· · 2 min read

Deepinder Goyal, founder of Temple, has revealed an AI-powered wearable device set to ship in 2027. Dubbed "humanity's last personal device," it features "roomdeaf voice AI" for privacy and comprehensive health monitoring without a screen.

Deepinder Goyal, the founder behind the ambitious project Temple, has unveiled his vision for a revolutionary AI-powered wearable device. Described by Goyal as "humanity’s last personal device," this screen-free companion is slated to begin shipping in 2027, promising advanced artificial intelligence capabilities and robust health monitoring features.

Introducing "Roomdeaf Voice AI" for Unparalleled Privacy

A core innovation of the Temple AI wearable is its unique "roomdeaf voice AI" technology. Unlike traditional microphones or voice assistants, the device is engineered to hear and understand the user's voice without recording surrounding conversations. Temple asserts that the device does not have a conventional microphone and cannot pick up other people in the room, addressing significant privacy concerns.

Interaction with the Temple device is designed to be intuitive and non-invasive. Users activate the device with a double-tap, receiving a subtle buzz confirmation that it is listening. Another double-tap concludes the interaction. The wearable is intended for continuous daily wear, utilizing medical-grade adhesive tapes, or "Grips," which are to be changed weekly.

A Screen-Free Personal Assistant and Health Companion

Beyond its privacy-focused voice interactions, the Temple AI wearable aims to function as a comprehensive personal assistant. It is designed to capture and retrieve ideas, reminders, birthdays, anniversaries, and personal notes, liberating users from constant smartphone reliance. The device could also assist with appointments, to-do lists, and recording daily observations, potentially identifying patterns like recurring headaches or dizziness for discussion with a medical professional.

Health tracking is another primary focus for the Temple AI wearable. The device is built to capture a wide array of wellness signals, including heart rate, heart rate variability, and VO2 max. Future plans include snoring detection, detailed sleep insights, continuous core body temperature monitoring, and calorie tracking, with the AI system analyzing this information throughout the day.

“Temple is an ambitious project. The team is delusional enough to think we can build this. And we will,” Goyal stated in a post on X, inviting others to join the journey.

Temple is committed to user privacy, ensuring that conversations are encrypted end-to-end and never reach a model company. The company explicitly states its intention not to sell user data for advertising purposes. Goyal characterizes Temple as a long-term research and development endeavor, with the initial "Temple 01" model in 2027 marking the beginning of a much broader, screen-free AI vision.
