The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reported that its online revaluation portal has come under a barrage of cyberattacks from what it described as "malicious actors." The board detailed a recent incident involving an attempted Denial-of-Service (DoS) attack that generated approximately 1.5 million hits on the portal within a mere two minutes.
In addition to the DoS attempt, the CBSE stated that its systems recorded over 100,000 attempts of unauthorized file access. The educational body shared updates regarding the cyberattacks via its official X (formerly Twitter) account on June 2, 2026.
Portal Functionality Amidst Attacks
Despite the disruptions, the CBSE affirmed that its revaluation portal remains operational, supporting over 8,000 concurrent users. By 3:00 PM on the day of the attacks, more than 16,000 students had successfully completed their submissions for revaluation or verification of answer books.
The portal, which opened on June 2, 2026, and will close on June 6, 2026, is specifically for students who have obtained scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets. It allows them to apply for verification of issues in scanned copies or for re-evaluation of answers if they are not satisfied with their initial assessment.
Application Process and Fees
Students wishing to use the facility must log in via the CBSE website using their Aadhaar number. The entire application process, including fee payment, is exclusively online. No offline applications will be accepted after the deadline.
The fees associated with the services are:
- Verification of issues: ₹100 per answer book.
- Re-evaluation of answers: ₹25 per question.
The board advises students to consolidate all requests across different subjects before making a final submission. Students can report various concerns, such as missing pages, supplementary sheets, maps, graphs, blurred pages, or incorrect evaluation against a different question paper set.
Security Measures and Student Feedback
The CBSE stated that the portal has been refined based on student feedback, including extensions of session time limits to make the application process more convenient and seamless. The board continues to monitor the portal's security in light of the ongoing cyber threats.
