TCS iON, a division of Tata Consultancy Services, has stated that "unknown local electrical issues" led to internal power failures at one of its examination centres in Jaipur, Rajasthan. This disruption affected candidates taking the NEET-PG 2026 exam on Sunday and the AIIMS Common Recruitment Exam (AIIMS CRE) on Monday, August 30 and 31, 2026, respectively.
Jaipur Centre Experiences Repeated Outages
The iDZ Sitapura centre in Jaipur was the sole location to experience these power outages across both examination days. Venguswamy Ramaswamy, head of the iON Business Unit at TCS, confirmed that the issues stemmed from internal power failures attributed to these unexplained local electrical problems.
Thousands of Candidates Affected, Re-exam Scheduled
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported that 2,445 NEET-PG candidates were directly impacted by the technical disruption at the Sitapura centre. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), which oversees the NEET-PG exam, confirmed that while the exam was successfully completed by over 2.63 lakh candidates across 1,111 centres nationwide, these specific candidates in Jaipur could not finish their test.
To address this, the NBEMS has announced that the affected 2,445 candidates will be given another opportunity to take the NEET-PG 2026 exam on September 5, 2026, at 3 PM, also in Jaipur.
TCS iON Working on Resolution
TCS iON has assured that expert teams from their electrical maintenance vendors are actively working to rectify the problem with urgency. Furthermore, the company is implementing all necessary measures to prevent any recurrence of such issues in the future. Ramaswamy expressed deep regret for the inconvenience caused to the candidates and affirmed collaboration with authorities to ensure swift completion of the exams for those affected.
