World Cup 2026 Quarter-Final Tickets Plummet After US, Portugal Eliminated

· · 2 min read

Prices for FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-final tickets have sharply declined, with some dropping over 50%. The exits of co-host USA and football giant Portugal from the tournament have significantly reduced demand and increased resale supply.

Dramatic Price Drop for World Cup Quarter-Finals

Football fans hoping to attend the FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-final matches are in for a pleasant surprise: ticket prices on the secondary market have plummeted. Reports indicate a significant reduction, with some of the most sought-after fixtures seeing prices nearly halved, making the dream of watching live football considerably more accessible.

Key Exits Drive Down Demand

The primary catalyst for this dramatic price correction is the unexpected early exit of two major teams: co-host United States and European powerhouse Portugal. The United States' campaign ended after a 4-1 defeat by Belgium in the Round of 16, dampening local demand for quarter-final matches, especially those anticipated to feature the home side in the Los Angeles area.

Similarly, Portugal's 1-0 loss to Spain in the Round of 16 marked the end of Cristiano Ronaldo's illustrious FIFA World Cup career. Ronaldo's presence in the later stages of the tournament was expected to generate immense global interest and drive up ticket prices. With both the US and Portugal out, interest in several quarter-final fixtures has softened considerably.

Increased Supply on Resale Market

Compounding the effect of reduced demand is a notable increase in the supply of resale tickets. Data from secondary marketplaces reveals that approximately 49,500 tickets are currently listed for resale, a substantial rise from the 28,300 available when the tournament commenced on June 11. As more ticket holders opt to resell their seats, the increased availability has naturally pushed prices downwards.

Spain vs. Belgium Sees Steepest Correction

Among all the quarter-final encounters, the Spain versus Belgium match, scheduled to take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, has experienced the most significant price drop. Initially, this fixture was projected to command premium resale prices due to the potential involvement of either the United States or Portugal. However, entry prices have now fallen by nearly 60%, with the cheapest tickets dropping from around $2,950 to approximately $1,200.

Meanwhile, the France vs. Morocco quarter-final at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, currently stands as the most affordable option on the resale market, with entry-level tickets available from $989. France secured its spot by defeating Paraguay 1-0, while Morocco advanced after a 3-0 victory over co-host Canada.

Other quarter-final matches include Norway facing England at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, and defending champions Argentina battling Switzerland at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The winners of these highly anticipated matches will proceed to the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-finals.
