Anupriya Nagar, the 21-year-old producer behind the devotional drama 'Hanuman Ansh', recently shared details of her meeting with Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy on social media. The interaction came as her film continues to achieve significant box office success, surpassing ₹400 crore worldwide.
Nagar, in an Instagram post, recounted Murthy's surprise upon learning that 'Hanuman Ansh' had been running in theatres for almost two months. "He said many films today don’t even run for two weeks, so there must be something special about ours," Nagar quoted Murthy as saying.
During their conversation, Nagar also mentioned the spiritual guidance from Maharaj ji and Hanuman ji in the film's journey. Murthy, known for his emphasis on hard work, reminded her that while blessings are important, "we still have to put in the work." Nagar expressed her gratitude, stating that his recognition of their effort meant a great deal to her.
Hanuman Ansh: A Box Office Phenomenon
'Hanuman Ansh', directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, is inspired by the life of Neem Karoli Baba. The film stars Shobinaw Satyaa, Colonel (Retd.) Hunny Bakshi, Chandan K Anand, Nikhil Dubey, and Anil Rastogi. Despite a modest opening of ₹10 lakh on its first day and ₹1.08 crore in its first week, the film's collections surged dramatically from its third week onwards.
As of its 54th day, 'Hanuman Ansh' had collected approximately ₹312.38 crore net in India, with an India gross of about ₹369 crore. An additional ₹39 crore from overseas markets pushed its worldwide gross collection to nearly ₹408 crore, marking it as a major success story in Indian cinema.
Overcoming Production Challenges
The film's journey to success was not without its hurdles. Nagar had previously spoken about the difficulties in securing funding for the project. Many industry insiders were hesitant to invest due to the film's relatively small budget, its first-time director, and a cast composed of newer faces. However, the film's unexpected triumph has led to a reversal of fortunes, with some initial doubters reportedly reaching out to congratulate the team.
