Bollywood star Ajay Devgn has achieved a new career milestone with his latest crime thriller, 'Drishyam The Conclusion', which premiered to an overwhelming response, becoming his highest-grossing opening day film to date. The third installment in the popular 'Drishyam' franchise, also known as 'Drishyam 3', garnered a staggering ₹95.10 crore at the global box office on its first day of release.
Record-Breaking Collections and Audience Reception
Domestically, 'Drishyam The Conclusion' collected ₹66.75 crore, contributing to a total gross domestic collection of ₹80.10 crore. International markets added another ₹15 crore to its impressive opening day tally. This performance surpasses Devgn's previous best openers, including 'Singham Again' (₹43.70 crore), 'Singham Returns' (₹32.09 crore), 'Golmaal Again' (₹30.14 crore), and 'Raid 2' (₹19.71 crore).
The film opened to largely positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. Social media users praised the compelling storyline, with many highlighting the intense face-off between Ajay Devgn's character, Vijay Salgaonkar, and Jaideep Ahlawat's performance. The climax twist was particularly lauded, with some calling it superior to those in the first two installments. The movie recorded an impressive 67.8% overall occupancy on its opening day, peaking at 76.46% during night shows across India.
'Udta Teer' Postponed to Avoid Clash
The strong momentum of 'Drishyam The Conclusion' at the box office has led to strategic changes in the release schedule of other films. The Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan-starrer 'Udta Teer', which was originally slated for an October 9 release, has now been postponed to October 23 to avoid a direct clash with the 'Drishyam 3' juggernaut.
While 'Udta Teer' moves its date, other films are still scheduled for October 9, including the Marathi film 'Gondhal'. Directed by Santosh Davakhar, 'Gondhal' has the distinction of being India's official entry for the 2027 Oscars.
About 'Drishyam The Conclusion'
Directed by Abhishek Pathak, 'Drishyam The Conclusion' serves as the final chapter in the thrilling franchise. The narrative picks up after the events of 'Drishyam 2', continuing the saga of Vijay Salgaonkar's clever maneuvers to protect his family from legal repercussions and ongoing investigations.
Beyond Ajay Devgn, the film features a stellar ensemble cast, including Tabu, Shriya Saran, Jaideep Ahlawat, Rajat Kapoor, Prakash Raj, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav, and Kamlesh Sawant in pivotal roles, all contributing to the film's gripping storyline and critical success.
