The highly anticipated action drama 'Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups', starring actor Yash, made a significant impact at the Indian box office on its opening day, crossing the coveted ₹100 crore mark.
According to early estimates from Sacnilk, the Geetu Mohandas directorial collected ₹101.10 crore net in India, with its gross collection reaching approximately ₹120.75 crore. Globally, the film's first-day gross collection stood at an impressive ₹140.75 crore.
'Toxic' Trails 'KGF: Chapter 2' Opening
Despite its massive debut, 'Toxic' could not surpass the Day 1 record set by Yash's previous blockbuster, 'KGF: Chapter 2'. 'KGF: Chapter 2' had garnered ₹134.50 crore net in India on its opening day in April 2022, meaning 'Toxic' recorded ₹33.40 crore less than its predecessor.
The film registered an overall occupancy of 56.1% across 24,579 shows nationwide, indicating strong audience turnout for Yash's return to the big screen post 'KGF: Chapter 2'.
Language-Wise Performance and Occupancy
The Hindi version of 'Toxic' emerged as the largest contributor to the Day 1 net collection, bringing in an estimated ₹55 crore. It was followed by the Kannada version with ₹23.30 crore, Telugu with ₹16 crore, Tamil with ₹5.50 crore, and Malayalam with ₹1.30 crore.
In terms of occupancy, the Kannada version showed exceptional strength, recording around 89%. Telugu followed with 60%, Malayalam with 61%, Hindi with 53%, and Tamil with 42% overall occupancy.

- Bengaluru: The Hindi version saw 78% occupancy, while the Kannada version recorded an outstanding 91.3% across 1,094 shows.
- Hyderabad & Chennai: Both cities registered 84.8% overall occupancy for the Hindi version.

While 'Toxic' did not break 'KGF: Chapter 2's record, it marks Yash's second film to achieve a ₹100 crore-plus net opening in India, solidifying his stature as a major box office draw.
The film, which also stars Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, Tara Sutaria, Akshay Oberoi, and Sudev Nair, premiered on August 26 in Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu languages. Its sustained box office performance will now depend on its hold through the rest of the week and the upcoming weekend.
