Unexpected Surge for Nolan's Epic

Christopher Nolan's latest cinematic endeavor, "The Odyssey," has delivered an unexpected twist at the Indian box office. On its 15th day in theaters, the epic film saw a surprising 14.5% growth in its daily earnings, a notable feat considering the simultaneous release of the highly anticipated "Spider-Man: Brand New Day."

This growth, while not a massive leap, has raised eyebrows in film trade circles, indicating a resilient audience base for Nolan's work even when facing fresh, major competition. The film's sustained appeal suggests that its dedicated viewership is not easily swayed by new releases.

Key metropolitan areas significantly contributed to these steady occupancy levels, including Chennai (69.3%), Kochi (48.3%), Bengaluru (41.5%), Hyderabad (28.3%), and Pune (28%).

"Spider-Man" Dominates Opening Weekend

In contrast, the Tom Holland and Zendaya-led actioner, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," made a formidable entry into the Indian market. The film crossed the ₹100 crore mark within just two days of its release, collecting ₹60.60 crore on its first Thursday and ₹49.35 crore on its first Friday, bringing its total India net collection to ₹109.95 crore.

Globally, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" made a massive impact, raking in over $170 million on its opening day worldwide, including $72-74.5 million from Thursday night previews, knocking "The Odyssey" from its top position.

Global Performance and Sustained Appeal

Despite the strong competition from the new superhero blockbuster, "The Odyssey" continues its global success, reaching a worldwide total collection of $727.9 million by its third Friday, having added approximately $10.2 million on that day alone. This performance underscores the enduring draw of Christopher Nolan's films and their ability to maintain momentum even against the biggest franchises in cinema.
