India's Senior Care Market Sees Boom in Home-Based Products, Moving Beyond Hospitals

· · 3 min read

India's senior care market is rapidly shifting from hospital-centric services to home-based products. Demand for items like mobility aids and health monitors is surging, with companies like AGEasy reporting strong revenue growth as the population ages.

India's senior care market is undergoing a significant transformation, moving beyond traditional hospital and nursing services to focus on products that support ageing at home. This shift is driven by a rapidly growing elderly population and a desire among families for solutions that enable older adults to maintain independence and manage daily life from the comfort of their homes.

Demographic Shift Fuels New Market Demand

The demographic landscape of India is changing dramatically. According to Antara Assisted Care Services CEO Ishaan Khanna, approximately 19,500 people in India turn 60 every day. Projections from the UNFPA's India Ageing Report 2023 indicate that the population aged 60 and above will surge from 149 million in 2022 to an estimated 347 million by 2050, meaning one in five Indians will be a senior citizen.

This demographic wave is creating substantial demand for a new category of consumer products. These include mobility aids, fall-prevention solutions, health-monitoring devices, continence care products, and everyday wellness items designed to address the practical challenges of ageing.

AGEasy Leads the Way in Home-Based Solutions

One prominent player capitalizing on this emerging market is AGEasy, the consumer products division of Antara Assisted Care Services, part of the Max Group. The company reported impressive growth, with revenue increasing from ₹40 crore in FY25 to ₹77 crore in FY26, a year-on-year rise of approximately 92.5%.

Khanna attributes this growth to escalating demand for specialized senior-care products, an expanding customer base, and a strategic focus on differentiated offerings tailored to older adults' specific needs. AGEasy's portfolio includes:

  • Mobility Aids: Products assisting movement and independence.
  • Fall Prevention: Solutions designed to enhance safety within the home.
  • Health Monitoring: Devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose-monitoring systems.
  • Personal Care: Including adult diapers, which see high repeat purchases.

Changing Consumer Behavior and Market Reach

The decision to purchase these products often involves younger family members researching and buying on behalf of their elderly relatives. AGEasy's website data illustrates this, showing that users aged 25–54 account for nearly 65% of its audience, indicating a significant role for working-age adults in the product discovery process.

Geographical reach is also a key factor. Approximately 60% of AGEasy's orders originate from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, with metropolitan areas accounting for the remaining 40%. This distribution highlights the role of digital platforms in making specialized senior-care products accessible in regions where traditional retail options may be limited.

Challenges and Future Outlook for Ageing at Home Products

While the demand for ageing at home products is clear, the long-term commercial trajectory of the market depends on several factors. Businesses must focus on expanding product portfolios, strengthening distribution channels, and enhancing consumer awareness across diverse geographies. Maintaining operational efficiency and distinguishing specialized offerings from general e-commerce and pharmacy products will be crucial for sustained competitive advantage.

The success of companies like AGEasy, which reported an improvement in gross margins and increased direct website traffic following marketing campaigns, offers a glimpse into the market's potential. However, the wider sector's development hinges on making these essential products both accessible and affordable enough to meet the needs of a much larger segment of Indian households, ensuring sustainable growth for businesses operating in this vital space.
