RVNL Shares Slip 4% as Q4 FY26 Profit Plummets 59%

· · 2 min read

Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) experienced a 4.20% stock decline after reporting a significant 58.92% year-on-year drop in consolidated net profit for Q4 FY26, reaching Rs 187.07 crore.

Shares of Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL), an executing arm of Indian Railways, saw a notable dip of 4.20% in early Tuesday trade, hitting a low of Rs 261.10. This decline followed the announcement of the company's financial results for the March 2026 quarter (Q4 FY26), which revealed a substantial slump in its consolidated net profit.

The state-owned rail PSU reported a 58.92% year-on-year (YoY) decrease in its net profit, settling at Rs 187.07 crore for Q4 FY26. This is a sharp contrast to the Rs 455.42 crore profit recorded in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.

Revenue Climbs Despite Profit Drop

Despite the significant reduction in profit, RVNL's operational revenue showed resilience. The company's revenue from operations climbed 4.18% YoY to Rs 6,695.91 crore in Q4 FY26, up from Rs 6,427.11 crore in the year-ago period. This indicates an increase in project execution and activity.

Rising Expenses Impact Bottom Line

The primary factor contributing to the profit slump appears to be a rise in expenses. Total expenses for the January-March 2026 quarter increased by 6.77% to Rs 6,534.62 crore, compared to Rs 6,120.11 crore in the same period last year.

Dividend Recommendation and Joint Venture Closure

Alongside the financial results, RVNL's Board of Directors has recommended a final dividend of Rs 0.71 per equity share. This dividend, based on a face value of Rs 10 per share for FY26, is subject to approval by shareholders at the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) and will be disbursed within 30 days of its declaration.

In other corporate news, RVNL also announced the closure of its joint venture entity, Kyrgyzindustry–RVNL CJSC, which was located in Kyrgyzstan within the Central Asia region.

As of March 2026, promoters maintained a substantial 72.84% stake in the rail infrastructure firm. RVNL operates on a turnkey basis, managing the entire project lifecycle from initial conceptualisation and design to contract award and final commissioning, on behalf of the Ministry of Railways.
