Renault India, the wholly-owned subsidiary of the French automaker Renault Group, has commenced the financial year 2026-27 with exceptional growth, registering a 108% year-on-year increase in April. The company recorded total domestic wholesales of 5,413 units, more than doubling the 2,602 units sold in April 2025.
Triber and Kiger Drive Sustained Growth
This robust performance reflects a sustained period of double-digit growth since the introduction of the new-generation Renault Triber and Kiger models in September 2025. Both models have garnered significant market traction, solidifying Renault's position in the competitive Indian automotive landscape.
New Duster Adds Momentum
Adding further impetus to this sales momentum is the newly launched Renault Duster. The updated SUV has received a strong market response, with demand picking up rapidly in the very first week of deliveries, which began in late April.
Expanding Network and Future Strategy
In response to the escalating demand, Renault India has been actively expanding its sales and service network across the country. The company's total touch points have now increased to 638, enhancing accessibility for customers.
Looking ahead, Renault plans to significantly ramp up its presence in India. The automaker aims to expand its portfolio to a total of seven models by the end of the decade. Furthermore, Renault has set an ambitious target of achieving annual vehicle and component exports worth 2 billion euros from India by 2030, underscoring the country's growing importance as a manufacturing hub for the group.
Structural Realignment for Focused Operations
In a strategic move to streamline its operations, Renault Group India recently approached the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) for approval of a proposed structural realignment. This realignment is designed to create clearer and more focused operating structures, envisaging the powertrain manufacturing activity as a dedicated entity within Renault Group India. Simultaneously, vehicle manufacturing and sales operations will be integrated under a unified operating structure for enhanced efficiency.
