· · 2 min read

Raymond Limited's shares surged after its aerospace and defence unit, JK Maini Global Aerospace Limited, secured a tender for assembling wing and fuselage structures for an indigenous fighter aircraft program. This strategic win expands Raymond's capabilities into complex aircraft assemblies.

Shares of Raymond Limited saw a significant surge after its dedicated aerospace and defence unit, JK Maini Global Aerospace Limited, successfully secured a crucial tender. The unit emerged as the chosen bidder in a competitive tender process conducted by a prominent Indian aerospace and Defence OEM.

The tender involves the intricate assembly of wing structures and centre fuselage structures for a major indigenous fighter aircraft programme. This landmark achievement signals Raymond's strategic entry into the high-value aircraft structures vertical, significantly expanding its capabilities beyond precision manufacturing into more complex, integrated aircraft assemblies.

Strategic Expansion in Defence Manufacturing

Following a recent demerger that spun off its lifestyle and real estate verticals, Raymond Limited has sharpened its focus on its Engineering division. This division now encompasses two core businesses: Tools and Auto Components, and Aerospace and Defence. The acquisition of Maini Precision Products Limited (MPPL) was instrumental in solidifying Raymond’s foray into the aerospace and defence sector.

The company highlighted that this programme is designed to leverage the customer’s existing infrastructure. This approach allows Raymond to develop crucial capabilities and establish strong execution credentials while maintaining a capital-efficient operational model.

Future Growth and Market Positioning

Rakesh Tiwary, Group CFO of Raymond, emphasized the profound strategic importance of this opportunity. "It provides Raymond an entry into the high-value aircraft structures segment while maintaining capital efficiency," Tiwary stated. He further added that the tender offers a vital chance to build critical execution credentials, positioning Raymond’s subsidiaries for participation in larger aerospace programmes both in India and internationally.

The company's focus will be on achieving execution excellence and transforming this capability into a scalable growth platform, aiming for sustained expansion in the dynamic aerospace and defence market.
