Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor has made a significant real estate investment in Ayodhya, acquiring a land parcel within the upscale 'The Sarayu' project. The deal, valued at approximately ₹3.31 crore, involves a 2,134 sq ft plot in the 75-acre plotted development situated on the banks of the Sarayu river.
Ayodhya's Growing Appeal for Investors
Kapoor's investment underscores the increasing confidence among high-profile individuals in Ayodhya's burgeoning real estate market. The city has seen substantial public and private investment in infrastructure, including roads, railways, and airport connectivity, alongside urban redevelopment initiatives. This growth is largely driven by its emergence as a major spiritual and cultural tourism hub.
Kapoor expressed his connection to the city, stating, "I believe Ayodhya has chosen me, and I have just answered this calling. Ayodhya is deeply rooted in our history and is a critical part of our cultural fabric. This land at The Sarayu became my gateway to ensuring this becomes a part of my legacy for my family."
The Sarayu Project: Luxury and Spirituality
'The Sarayu' project, developed by The House of Abhinandan Lodha, aims to combine spiritual tourism with luxury living. It features a clubhouse, over 35 lifestyle amenities, and a five-acre fully vegetarian luxury hotel managed by The Leela. This development is positioned as Ayodhya's first branded plotted development, attracting buyers looking for both emotional and strategic future-forward investments.
Tourism Boom and Future Projections
Abhinandan Lodha, chairman of The House of Abhinandan Lodha, highlighted Ayodhya's long-term growth trajectory, fueled by infrastructure development, tourism, and global attention. Visitor numbers to Ayodhya have seen a dramatic increase, rising from approximately 5.75 crore before the temple construction to nearly 23 crore between January and June 2025. A report by Liases Foras projects annual visitors could reach 280 million by 2030, further solidifying Ayodhya's potential as a prime investment destination.
Kapoor's move reflects a broader trend of investors recognizing Ayodhya not just for its spiritual significance but also as a strategic location with substantial economic growth prospects in the coming years.
