Currently, pilgrims traveling from states like Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Punjab on this route often disembark at Jammu Tawi and must arrange alternative transport for the final leg of their journey to Katra. The extended service will eliminate this inconvenience, allowing passengers to complete their entire rail journey to the base camp of the revered shrine without interruption.

According to Northern Railway's Jammu division, the extended route will see the train continue past Jammu, making a stop at Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan station in Udhampur before reaching Katra.
