The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to release the answer key for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination very soon. Candidates who participated in the medical entrance test on June 21, 2026, should regularly check the official NTA website, neet.nta.nic.in, for the latest updates.
Key Release and Challenge Process
Following the release of the provisional answer key, candidates will be given a specific window to challenge any answers they believe are incorrect. This objection period will be announced via an official notice. A panel of subject experts will then review all submitted challenges. If an objection is found to be valid, the answer key will be revised accordingly, and the corrected answer will apply to all test-takers.
Once all objections have been addressed and the necessary revisions made, the NTA will publish the final answer key. The crucial NEET UG 2026 results, which determine admission to medical courses across India, will be prepared and declared based on this definitive final answer key.
Why the Re-Examination Was Held
The NEET UG 2026 re-examination, which saw over 20 lakh candidates participate across 5,440 centres in India and 14 centres abroad, was conducted after the NTA cancelled the original exam. The initial examination, held on May 3, was marred by allegations of a question paper leak and suspected malpractice.
The NTA informed the Supreme Court that the decision to cancel and re-conduct the exam was essential to safeguard the integrity of the examination process and protect the interests of the vast number of students appearing for the test. The re-exam on June 21 was administered under significantly enhanced security measures, including stricter monitoring and verification protocols, to ensure a fair and transparent process.
