· · 2 min read

The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced new guidelines for the NEET UG 2024 retest on June 23, granting 1,563 candidates an additional 15 minutes and more space for rough work. This decision addresses grievances regarding lost time during the initial exam.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has unveiled revised guidelines for the upcoming National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2024 retest, scheduled for June 23. This crucial re-examination will offer 1,563 affected candidates additional time and resources to ensure a fair assessment.

Key Changes for the NEET UG 2024 Retest

Under the updated provisions, candidates appearing for the retest will receive an extra 15 minutes to complete their examination. This adjustment aims to compensate for the time lost due to technical glitches or administrative issues reported during the initial examination on May 5.

In addition to the extended duration, the NTA has also confirmed that candidates will be provided with more space for rough work. This measure is intended to facilitate smoother problem-solving and calculations, particularly for subjects requiring extensive scratchpad use.

Addressing Candidate Grievances

The decision to conduct a retest and implement these changes comes after a high-level committee reviewed grievances from 1,563 candidates who reported receiving incorrect question papers or experiencing time loss during the first examination. The NTA emphasized its commitment to transparency and fairness in the examination process.

Important Dates and Logistics

  • Retest Date: June 23, 2024 (Sunday)
  • Timing: 2:00 PM to 5:20 PM IST
  • Results: Expected by June 30, 2024

The NTA has already informed the affected candidates individually via email regarding their eligibility for the retest. New admit cards will be issued, containing details of their examination centers and revised instructions. Candidates are advised to download these new admit cards from the official NTA website as soon as they are available.

This retest is a significant step by the NTA to uphold the integrity of the NEET UG examination, which is vital for admissions to undergraduate medical courses across India.
