Travelers between Ghaziabad and the upcoming Noida International Airport (Jewar Airport) could soon experience significantly reduced commute times, with the proposed Ghaziabad-Jewar Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor aiming to cut travel to approximately 40 minutes. This ambitious 72.44-kilometer project is currently in the Detailed Project Report (DPR) stage, as confirmed by NCRTC Managing Director Shalabh Goel.
Boosting NCR Connectivity
The Namo Bharat RRTS corridor is envisioned as a vital link in strengthening connectivity across the National Capital Region (NCR). Designed for a maximum operational speed of 180 kmph, the rapid rail system promises a fast, efficient, and sustainable transport option for commuters and air travelers alike. The project is estimated to cost around ₹20,640 crore and will connect Ghaziabad with Noida, Greater Noida, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region, and Jewar Airport.
Key Features and Stations
The proposed corridor will feature 12 strategically located stations and two depots, one at each end of the alignment. The planned stations include Ghaziabad, Ghaziabad South, Greater Noida West Sector IV, Greater Noida West Sector II, Knowledge Park V, Surajpur, Pari Chowk, Ecotech VI, Dankaur, YEIDA North Sector 18, YEIDA Central Sector 21, and Jewar Airport. These stations are expected to significantly improve accessibility for residents and businesses across the rapidly developing areas of Noida, Greater Noida, and the YEIDA region.
Beyond its direct route, the new Namo Bharat corridor will also integrate seamlessly with the Delhi Metro network. Commuters will be able to conveniently switch from the Delhi Metro's Red Line at Ghaziabad to the Namo Bharat service, facilitating smoother multi-modal travel for passengers heading towards Noida, Greater Noida, and Jewar Airport. This integration is crucial for easing dependence on road transport, reducing traffic congestion, and providing improved access to the international airport.
