Molbio Diagnostics Debuts Strong on D-Street with 21.44% Premium

Molbio Diagnostics, a Goa-based molecular diagnostics firm, saw its shares list at Rs 980 on BSE and NSE, marking a 21.44% premium over its issue price of Rs 807. The IPO, which closed on August 12, raised Rs 940 crore and was subscribed over 70 times.

Molbio Diagnostics, a prominent Goa-based molecular diagnostics company, made a robust entry into the stock market on Monday, August 18. The company's shares listed at Rs 980 on both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE), representing a significant 21.44% premium over its issue price of Rs 807 per share.

Investors who were allotted shares in the initial public offering (IPO) saw an immediate profit of Rs 3,114 on each lot. The IPO, which was open for subscription from August 10 to August 12, offered shares in a price band of Rs 768-807 apiece with a lot size of 18 equity shares. Molbio Diagnostics successfully raised approximately Rs 940 crore through this public issue.

Strong Investor Demand and Subscription

The IPO witnessed overwhelming demand across all investor categories, achieving an impressive overall subscription rate of 70.26 times. This included more than 26.85 lakh applications, totaling bids worth over Rs 46,200 crore. The Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIB) portion was subscribed 186.39 times, while Non-Institutional Investors (NII) and retail portions saw subscriptions of 49.80 times and 12.96 times, respectively.

Company Profile and Market Expectations

Molbio Diagnostics is best known for its innovative Truenat platform, which develops and manufactures portable molecular diagnostic solutions. These solutions facilitate testing closer to patients and healthcare facilities, with a strong presence in both domestic and international markets. Ahead of its debut, the company's shares were commanding a grey market premium (GMP) of Rs 120, suggesting an anticipated 15% premium, which later rose to Rs 125.

Brokerage firms had largely maintained a positive outlook on the issue, recommending investors apply for both potential listing gains and long-term investment. Kotak Mahindra Capital Company, IIFL Capital Services, and Jefferies acted as the book-running lead managers for the IPO, with Kfin Technologies serving as the official registrar of the issue.
