Hyderabad, India – Mivi, a prominent Indian consumer electronics brand, has officially opened its new ₹200 crore integrated research, development, and manufacturing facility in Hyderabad. Located at E-City in Tukkuguda, the state-of-the-art plant is set to dramatically scale Mivi’s domestic production across its audio and broader consumer technology portfolio, including its new venture into the smartphone segment.
The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister, D. Sridhar Babu, alongside other senior state officials. The facility, established by Mivi’s parent company, Avishakaran Industries Pvt Ltd, reinforces Telangana’s burgeoning electronics manufacturing ecosystem and aligns with national initiatives like 'Make in India' and 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat'.
Boosting Local Production and Employment
This substantial investment by Mivi is designed to deepen the company’s design, technology, and manufacturing footprint within India. The facility is equipped to produce five lakh earbuds and 75,000 soundbars monthly, aiming to meet the rising demand for affordable consumer audio products.
Crucially, the new plant is expected to generate approximately 2,500 direct employment opportunities, further supporting the local economy and its surrounding supply-chain ecosystem. By bringing research, development, and production under one roof, Mivi seeks to reduce its reliance on imports and foster self-sufficiency.
Mivi Enters Smartphone Market with Mivi One 5G
A significant announcement accompanying the facility's launch is Mivi's expansion beyond audio products into the competitive smartphone market. The company is set to introduce its first smartphone, the Mivi One 5G, marking a strategic diversification of its product offerings.
“It’s encouraging to see a homegrown brand from Hyderabad expand beyond audio products and enter the smartphone segment with Mivi One 5G. We are committed to making Telangana a leading destination for electronics manufacturing,” stated Minister D. Sridhar Babu during the inauguration.
The minister highlighted Telangana’s appeal as an electronics investment destination, citing its robust digital and physical infrastructure, skilled workforce, research institutions, and favorable business environment.
Telangana's Vision for Electronics Manufacturing
Mivi’s new Hyderabad facility is a key development in Telangana’s broader vision to establish itself as a leader in electronics manufacturing. The state is actively working to build electronics clusters and hardware parks under its 'Telangana Rising-2047' initiative.
Minister Sridhar Babu also referenced NITI Aayog estimates, projecting India’s electronics manufacturing sector to reach $500 billion by 2030, and urged investors to consider Telangana for future projects. Mivi has already sought an additional 100 acres of land for further expansion, indicating long-term growth plans within the state.
