Mercedes-Benz India has introduced the opulent Mercedes-Maybach S 580e plug-in hybrid to the Indian market, carrying an ex-showroom price tag of ₹3.35 crore. This launch signifies the luxury automaker's response to the increasing demand for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) among its high-end clientele.
The S 580e holds the distinction of being the first plug-in hybrid model within the prestigious Mercedes-Maybach lineup in India. Initially, only 30 units of this exclusive vehicle will be available, with deliveries scheduled to begin in November 2026.
Performance and Powertrain
Under the hood, the Mercedes-Maybach S 580e combines a potent 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor, delivering a formidable combined output of 585 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque. Power is channeled through a nine-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels via the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system. This sophisticated setup allows the luxury sedan to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in a mere 4.8 seconds, reaching an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph.
Electric Range and Charging
Equipped with a 22kWh usable battery, the S 580e boasts a WLTP-certified electric driving range of up to 98 kilometers. In pure electric mode, the vehicle can achieve speeds of up to 140 kmph. For convenient charging, it supports up to 11kW on AC and a rapid 60kW on DC charging infrastructure. Mercedes-Benz India will also provide a complimentary home charging solution with every S 580e purchase.

The India-specific Maybach S 580e is offered exclusively as a four-seater configuration, featuring individual executive rear seats for unparalleled comfort. The cabin is further enhanced by a full-length business console, wireless charging capabilities, and temperature-controlled cup holders. Audiophiles will appreciate the immersive experience provided by the 31-speaker Burmester 4D surround-sound system, which delivers an impressive 1,610 watts of output.
Safety remains paramount with 15 airbags and Level 2 driver assistance systems. The vehicle also incorporates advanced technologies such as cloud-based AIRMATIC air suspension and rear-axle steering, capable of up to 10 degrees, enhancing both ride comfort and maneuverability.
