· · 2 min read

Mercedes-Benz India has received over 650 expressions of interest for its upcoming Electric GLC SUV within 36 hours of opening registrations. The locally manufactured luxury EV is set for an India debut on November 4, 2026.

Mercedes-Benz India is experiencing significant pre-launch excitement for its new Electric GLC SUV, with over 650 expressions of interest (EOIs) recorded within just 36 hours of registrations opening. This strong initial demand signals a robust market for the luxury electric vehicle ahead of its official India launch on November 4, 2026.

Strong Demand for India-Made Luxury EV

Registrations for the Electric GLC 400 4MATIC commenced on October 5, 2026, with customer deliveries anticipated to begin by mid-November. The company plans to keep registrations open for subsequent batches of the vehicle, indicating ongoing availability.

Brendon Sissing, Vice President—Sales and Marketing at Mercedes-Benz India, highlighted the impressive response, stating it has created substantial pre-launch momentum. He expressed confidence that the Electric GLC is poised to become one of the most successful Mercedes-Benz models launched in India.

Local Production and Market Strategy

A key aspect of the Electric GLC's introduction is its local manufacturing at Mercedes-Benz’s facility in Chakan, Maharashtra. This makes it the first Mercedes-Benz SUV built in India on the company’s advanced new-generation electric vehicle architecture. Local production aligns with Mercedes-Benz India's long-term electric mobility strategy and aims to provide Indian customers with access to the brand's latest electric SUV platform while supporting its 'Made in India' luxury vehicle portfolio.

The Electric GLC is positioned as the electric successor to the popular GLC SUV line, promising to combine the familiar comfort and refinement of the GLC nameplate with cutting-edge electric-drive technology and connected digital features. Mercedes-Benz India noted that the strong interest reflects a growing trend among Indian luxury-car buyers towards electric vehicles that offer a blend of sustainability, performance, technology, comfort, and everyday usability.

Upcoming Details and Recognition

While the company has not yet released the official price or full technical specifications for the Indian market, details such as battery capacity, driving range, charging capabilities, and standard equipment are expected to be announced closer to the November 4 launch. Customers who have registered their interest will receive updates on their order status and indicative delivery timelines.

Adding to its prestige, the Electric GLC was also named the German Premium Car of the Year 2026, according to Mercedes-Benz India.
