L&T Technology Services Ltd (LTTS) saw its shares climb 4% in Monday's trading session following the announcement of a significant five-year contract with telecommunications giant Nokia. The agreement positions LTTS to support Nokia's extensive engineering and research and development (R&D) activities across India.
Under the terms of the new contract, LTTS will provide comprehensive support for Nokia's R&D programs. This includes critical areas such as product engineering, software development, system integration, and ongoing product support. The collaboration also extends to new product development and embedded systems, signaling a deep integration of LTTS's expertise into Nokia's innovation pipeline.
Dedicated Centers for Advanced Telecom Solutions
As part of the strategic partnership, L&T Technology Services is slated to establish a dedicated Offshore Development Center (ODC) within India. This center will be exclusively focused on bolstering Nokia's engineering and R&D initiatives, with a particular emphasis on next-generation compute and AI infrastructure engineering, crucial for future telecom solutions.
Furthermore, LTTS will assemble a specialized engineering team in India. This team is tasked with supporting Nokia's global Technology Center, with its work encompassing advanced fields such as 5G networks, intelligent automation, and AI-driven operations and infrastructure.
Vivek Jaiswal, Senior Vice President of Engineering at Nokia, emphasized the importance of the collaboration, stating, "India is an important innovation hub for Nokia, and LTTS is a critical partner that will bring engineering expertise and mechanisms that will help us expand our R&D footprint and accelerate innovation in this strategically important geography."
Alind Saxena, Executive Director and President, Strategic Initiatives and Growth Markets at L&T Technology Services, highlighted the alignment of the partnership with LTTS's broader strategic goals. "The collaboration aligns with the company's Lakshya 31 strategy, particularly its focus on next-generation compute and AI infrastructure," Saxena noted.
The engagement is designed to merge LTTS's robust engineering capabilities with Nokia's extensive telecommunications technology. Both companies will operate through an integrated model, working closely with Nokia's global R&D teams to foster accelerated innovation and development.
