Commercial flight operations at the highly anticipated Noida International Airport, located in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, are set to begin on June 15, 2026. This launch marks a significant expansion of air connectivity in North India and the Delhi-NCR region.
IndiGo, one of India's leading airlines, will operate the very first commercial flight from the new facility. Akasa Air and Air India Express are expected to follow suit, commencing their services shortly after the airport's official opening. Flight schedules and specific destinations for these initial operations are anticipated to be announced in the coming weeks.
Strategic Location and Connectivity
The Noida International Airport is strategically positioned to ease the burden on Delhi’s existing airports, providing a much-needed alternative for travelers and cargo. Its location in western Uttar Pradesh is expected to significantly boost trade, tourism, logistics, and overall regional economic development.
The airport boasts robust connectivity, linking directly to the Yamuna Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, and Western Peripheral Expressway. Future plans include integrating the airport with additional multimodal logistics infrastructure, further enhancing its accessibility and utility.
Developed for Growth and Sustainability
Developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited as a greenfield project, the facility is designed as a next-generation aviation hub. A core focus of the project has been on sustainability and seamless connectivity, aiming to combine global aviation standards with locally inspired passenger experiences.
Initially, the airport will operate with one runway and a single terminal, capable of handling 1.2 crore (12 million) passengers annually. Long-term expansion plans are ambitious, aiming to increase capacity to over 7 crore (70 million) passengers per year, potentially establishing it as one of India's largest aviation hubs.
Noida International Airport is also committed to environmental stewardship, striving towards net-zero emissions through sustainable infrastructure and energy-efficient operations. This commitment aligns with broader governmental initiatives under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enhance infrastructure across Uttar Pradesh.
Regulatory Approvals Underway
Prior to the commencement of commercial operations, the airport requires final regulatory approvals. This includes the crucial clearance of its Aerodrome Security Programme (ASP) by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, ensuring full compliance with stringent security, operational, and safety standards.
