Indian financial markets are set to pause trading activities on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in observance of Bakri Id. Both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain closed for the entire trading day. This marks the ninth official market holiday of the year, out of a total of 16 scheduled closures for 2026.
While equity markets will be fully shut, the Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) will observe a partial closure. Its morning session, typically running from 9 am to 5 pm, will be suspended. However, the MCX will resume operations for its evening trading session, which commences at 5 pm.
Next Stock Market Holiday in June
Following the Bakri Id holiday, normal trading will resume on Friday. Investors should note that the very next stock market holiday is scheduled for Friday, June 26, when both the BSE and NSE will close their doors to observe Muharram.
